Product Description

Wolwefontein Lodge is a spacious, five bedroom guesthouse on the farm Wolwefontein, situated 30km outside Colesberg on the N9 between Colesberg and Noupoort. It is a quiet, scenic stopover for those traveling toward Port Elizabeth and the Garden Route. It is possible to access the N1 via Noupoort, getting back onto the highway at Hanover.

A drive to the farm is almost like envisioning an oasis, a great contrast to the stark beauty of the Karoo, as lovely green lands and a forest of Poplar trees lay just below the guesthouse. Your hostess runs the guesthouse, prepares and serves all the meals and believes in spending time with her guests. Listen to her tales of Wolwefontein’s rich history and about life on the magical farm. Relax in the solidarity of the vast serene space at the lodge and be in peace with the abundant wilderness and animal life.

At Wolwefontein, there is always heaps of fun stuff for children to do. Most of the year, there are little orphan lambs to feed, sometimes there may even be a baby buck. From August, the mares will have their foals running and playing nearby and if you are really lucky, you may even get to see a mare foaling. Aside from the animals on the farm, play is only limited to the imagination and the definite plus is that Mom and Dad can leave them to it and relax in peace.

Wolwefontein is quite nicely situated so as to allow day trips of the surrounding areas. Graaff-Reinet is a lovely little town to explore with much history. It is only 160km away! The Owl House is about 100km away so you can be sure of a nice day trip. Colesberg museum has much information about the Boer War and they offer interesting walks through the town and surrounding area with regards to the Boer War skirmishes and sites.

Gariep Dam is 70km away and one can organise day trips on a house boat or just have a nice day relaxing by the waterside. White water rafting and horse riding near the dam. Expect a warm smile, comfortable beds and plenty of fresh country air on your visit to Wolwefontein Lodge.
