Rossouws Poort Safaris is nestled in the wild African bush in an isolated river valley, near Jansenville, just a short drive from Port Elizabeth. It is here where Settlers and Khoisan tribes met, and where game roamed the plains freely. The diversity of plants and wildlife is celebrated at Rossouws Poort.

The mystery and beauty of Africa

From an open game viewing vehicle, guests can enjoy the mystery and magic that Umtsalane has to offer, with an abundance of wildlife. Rossouws Poort hosts species such as Kudu, Giraffe, Eland, Blue Wildebeest, Black Wildebeest, Gemsbuck, Zebra, Rooi Hartebeest, Impala, Water buck, Springbuck, Mountain Reedbuck, Duiker, Steen buck, Ostrich, Baboon and a wide variety of bird species. With dramatic views of the roaming plains, Rossouws Poort’s picturesque setting also offers diverse fauna and flora expanding from bushveld to spekboom valleys.

 

Apart from magnificent game viewing, Rossouws Poort boasts a diverse range of activities for our more energetic guests, with safe walking trails, mountain biking and quad biking. After a walk through the bushveld amongst game and birdlife, guests are invited to cool off in the pool.

Nestled deep in the Greater Karoo, Rossouws Poort has 5 magnificent thatched lodges decorated with ethnic themes. The luxury lodges offer guests tranquil escapes, each with its own spectacular view. After a day in the bush, guests can relax by the pool and enjoy a sundowner on the viewing deck overlooking a waterhole where wildlife venture for a drink. After sunset, while sitting around a log fire, let your mind drift as the African night comes alive with the cries of the wild.
