Meet the person behind it all

Allan is a passionate and experienced hunter, born in 1958 and raised on a Karoo sheep farm. He began practicing his hunting skills from a young age with a No1 BSA airgun, and now uses a .308 and loads his ammo with copper or brass bullets. He joined SAHGCA in 2011 and follows the Fair Chase principle, preferring to hunt alone or with at most two friends or family members. His preferred hunting method is walk and stalk, and he always uses shooting sticks when hunting venison.

He values sustainability and prefers to eat what he shoots, prioritizing young animals over old trophies. If you share his passion for ethical hunting practices and responsible game management, you can become a member and join him in his mission.

Farmer 2 Hunter, is like an Airbnb for the Southern African hunting community, bridging the gap between the Hunters and the Farmers. Farmer2Hunter is a platform that connects hunters and farmers in the Southern African hunting community. It functions like an Airbnb for hunting, providing a bridge for hunters to connect with farmers who offer hunting opportunities on their land.

At Farmer2Hunter, we understand that the hunting industry plays a vital role in conservation efforts in Southern Africa. We also recognize the economic value that hunting brings to rural communities. Our mission is to make it easier for hunters to find hunting opportunities while ensuring that local farmers benefit from the hunting industry.

Farmers can list their land on our platform, including the type of game available for hunting, accommodation options, and any additional activities offered on the property. Hunters can then browse through the listings, view photos and details, and book their hunting trip directly with the farmer.

We take pride in offering a secure and transparent platform that benefits both hunters and farmers. By facilitating connections and promoting responsible hunting practices, Farmer2Hunter is helping to conserve Southern Africa’s natural heritage and support the livelihoods of local communities.

Our Story

A group of friends who were farmers and hunters had noticed that the traditional biltong hunting industry was changing rapidly. It was no longer the case that everyone in the town had a family member on a farm who could accommodate their hunting needs. Instead, fewer farmers were trying to accommodate an increasing number of hunters whom they had no knowledge of or association with. This made it difficult for both farmers and hunters. Farmers were looking for trustworthy hunters who respected their wishes, while hunters were looking for trustworthy farms where they could hunt without being ripped off.

In response, the group of friends decided to create a platform that would connect farmers and hunters in a way that would benefit both parties. They wanted a system that would allow participants to control their preferences, reduce costs, and ensure transparency, security, and trustworthiness. They called this platform f2h (Farmer-2-Hunter).

One of the main characteristics of the f2h platform is that it is based on market forces, which means that no entity other than the forces of the market can influence the biltong hunting tradition. This ensures that participants have complete control over their preferences and that there is no centralized authority that can influence their decisions. Additionally, the platform is highly trustworthy, transparent, and secure, with zero risk for users and a low cost but high reward.

One of the key features of the platform is its ability to establish participants’ bona fides, which is important for both farmers and hunters. Farmers can be assured that they are dealing with trustworthy hunters who respect their wishes, while hunters can be assured that they are dealing with trustworthy farms that are safe and reliable.

  • It is a secure incognito platform where South African and Namibian Farmers list and manage their own hunting, fishing and wingshooting opportunities to local citizen hunters who have subscribed (R300 pa)and are in good standing.
  • It is a 100% FREE platform for Farmers that is like a cross between a Yellow Pages and Airbnb.
  • Absolutely not.
  • Only South African and Namibian subscribers who are in good standing with f2h.co.za are able to access your listing.
  • It is 100% free!
  • There is no commission paid to f2h.co.za for your listing.

Where is the catch?

  • There is no catch. None at all. Whatever you are currently paying has to be divided by the number of animals you shoot.
  • If your current website costs you R3000 pa and you shoot 100 animals then your cost per animal is R30.00.
  • Listing on f2h.co.za costs you nothing so that R30 per animal goes straight into your pocket.
  • Hunters would thus expect to pay less which in turn makes you more attractive as a destination.
  • Your genuinely no cost to you at all.
  • Your obligation is to the hunter, your client (and maybe the brotherhood of Farmers).
  • You owe every hunter a rating after each hunt.
  • You do.
  • Load your own information using the platform’s template.
  • Change descriptions, prices, photos, T&C’s yourself.
  • Never pay anyone to do it ever again.
  • NO!!! Hunters apply via your secure message board.
  • When you click on the hunter’s name, you will see
    • What they say about themselves.
    • Every farm they have hunted on.
    • What that Farmer said about them.
  • You deal directly with the hunter IF YOU CHOOSE TO.

  • Only local hunters in good standing i.e. they have paid their R300.00 for that year get access to your listing.
